About Under the Nile's Ethical Manufacturing

All of our products are made at a certified Fair Trade facility in Egypt. We believe in clean, safe and healthy working conditions, as well as dignity and respect for all workers.

The factory is called NatureTex, and it's located right on the farm where our cotton is grown. NatureTex is part of Sekem (the organic, biodynamic farm that grows our cotton).
.
The people that manufacture our products are promised safe, clean and healthy working conditions. Sekem provides healthcare, on-site daycare and school for their children, and daily organic meals made from food that's grown right there at the farm. Sekem also promotes social justice, gender equality and diversity.
SEKEM works with Fairtrade International, which is an organization that aims to help producers in developing countries to make better trading conditions and promote sustainability. Fairtrade is a trading partnership, based on dialog, transparency, and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. Fairtrade organizations, backed by consumers, are actively engaged in supporting producers, awareness raising, and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade.

In 2013, Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish, founder of Sekem, was awarded with the “Award for Excellence in Positive Change” by the Global Thinker Forum.
