The Eco Teething Giveaway!

Posted on

Teething is an exciting time! Your little one is growing up right before your eyes and you can see those little tooth buds right under the surface of Baby's swollen gums.

You've probably asked yourself some questions like...

How long does teething last? How do you know if your baby is teething? What are the symptoms of teething? As with everything in life, each baby has their own symptoms and the teething experience is different for every family. Drool, fussing, sleep regression - these are a few things you might be dealing with for several months or even longer.

You've got this, and we teamed up with Mello & Co and Silikids to help! Here's some of our favorite (and eco-friendly!) teething related items.

The Prize:

Five (5) Under the Nile Bandana Dribble Bibs

Save your baby's clothing from waterfalls of drool with our super cute bandana style drool bibs. We love anything to help cut down on the amount of clothing changes and laundry. They're also super cute and make for instant baby fashion!

Our quirky and colorful dribble bibs are super absorbent and awesomely sustainable. They are a zero waste design, made from 100% Egyptian Organic Cotton scraps left over from our clothing production.

One (1) Mello&Co NawGum Teether

As you probably know, Baby prefers to gnaw on your finger above any teething toy. We love the NawGum because it actually feels squishy yet firm just like a real finger. Help ease Baby's pain with this BPA-free and non-toxic teether by Mello & Co!

This universal teether is designed to manage all areas of the mouth, and during all three stages of baby’s oral development: gumming, front and side teeth and back molars. Nawgum’s design has four sections — two arms and two bumpers — that each has different textures for safely grazing gums. These sections are soft and rubbery on the surface, with a slightly hardened middle, to simulate a bone. The arms are also deliberately situated in opposite directions to help the child maneuver the device. It's a really fun 'cactus' shape that will keep your baby entertained!

One (1) Siliskin® Sippy Cup

Most likely, when your baby is in full teething mode around 6 months old your pediatrician might recommend to start introducing a sippy cup (It all happens so fast!). Baby will probably play more than actually drink from it, but pretty soon you'll see your little one get the hang of it. Practice makes progress! We LOVE the Silikids Silicone Sippy Cup. The sippy top fits over ANY cup! That's right - if you find yourself at a friend's house or restaurant and they don't have sippy cups, no worries, you've got a Silikids sippy top!

Silicone is a great non-toxic material that is durable, non-toxic, and more than just BPA-Free. The Siliskin® Sippy Cup is 100% silicone with an embedded stainless steel ring keeping it from collapsing when squeezed. The sippy cup comes with a universal sippy top that fits over any size cup. The spout is also free of intricate valves allowing for easy cleaning and easier use. Perfect for on-the-go, tabletop, indoor and outdoor use. Excellent for preventing big spills! Time to GoSili!

There are many ways to navigate smoothly through the teething process. Here are some quick tips on teething:

Ease the Pain:

Teething rings and toys are made to help soothe aching gums. Are you in a bind because you haven't gotten a NawGum teether yet? Amy V. of San Jose, CA recommends to try a frozen bagel (under your careful supervision, of course). Consult with your pediatrician to see if that's a good option for you.

Drool Bibs:

Drool, drool, lots of drool is a noticeable part of teething. To avoid skin irritation, try your best to dry Baby's chin often and prevent wetness on clothes with a drool bib like our super cute bandana style Dribble Bibs!

A Parent's Love

Nothing beats comfort than extra cuddles from mom or dad. The teething process may be stressful - it's hard to see your little one in pain, and also no fun to deal with fussing - but cherish these moments because they grow up so fast!

  • Viv Sluys: January 19, 2017

Lots of snuggles and patience is how we do teething

  • Miranda Welle: January 18, 2017

Lots of snuggles, teethers, & strap baby in a carrier and head out for a walk.

  • Amy Howard: January 18, 2017

This too shall pass… that’s what I tell myself! Frozen breast milk pops!

  • Donna Printy : January 18, 2017

We use cold teethers for our grandson. The cold feels good on red, swollen gums. It also decreases inflammation. We buy quite a few, and keep them all in the fridge. Rotate them as needed when they are no longer cold.

  • Jessica: January 18, 2017

My best advice is to have a nice variety of teethers ready.

  • Mandi Smith: January 18, 2017

get a variety of teethers to allow the baby to find the best one they like. And Sleep whenever possible if baby naps, nap, all that cleaning can wait because baby does not sleep right when he or she is teething. I miss my sleep but I love my tiny human.

  • Sophie: January 17, 2017

Before buying a bunch of the same type of teether, buy a variety so you can find out which type your little one prefers. Some like cloth, some happily gnaw on wooden teethers, and some are into silicone. Also, in the daytime hours, nothing seems to work as well as distraction in the form of songs and games.

  • Britta P: January 17, 2017

Highlands teething tablets were so helpful for us (before they were discontinued), but Herbs for Kids Valarian Super Calm was also really helpful. Lots of cuddles and patience, help too! It’s hard when you’re in the midst of it! We never found any teethers that our LO consistently liked, unfortunately…

  • Ashley: January 17, 2017

Well, we used a toofeeze because our son liked the stainless steel. He also liked that you can make it cold while out and about by simply dipping it in a glass of ice water. But I think anything that can be safely chomped on is effective!

  • Amber B.: January 17, 2017

Frozen breast milk popsicles work wonders!

  • Dayna Fleischmann : January 17, 2017

Best advice for parents, patience and love. And get a Nawgum teether if you can!

  • charla: January 16, 2017

Get a variety of teethers to see what your babe likes best. And then buy MANY.

  • Angie noffsinger : January 16, 2017

Try different prouduts. Find what your baby likes best.

  • serena: January 16, 2017

Have lots of bibs to soak up the drool. As for the actual teething, I have no idea! So far my kuds haven’t liked anything besides their pacis.

  • Maude A: January 14, 2017

Teething feels like it takes forever, but just be patient. Think about how adorable your little one will look with a toothy smile :-)

  • Jessica : January 14, 2017

    One word PATIENCE !!!

  • Monica Cobbs: January 14, 2017

My best advice, every baby is different. Be flexible and try a variety of teethers. My kids both liked something different.

  • Amethyst | One Sage Mama: January 13, 2017

It takes a lot of patience and trying to find the right things that’ll work for your baby. I give my daughter Camila when she really can’t sleep from the pain and let her chew anything that isn’t dangerous. Toys with ribbing and wooden toys seem to be her favorite.

  • Deanna: January 13, 2017

My little one is 3 months old and not teething yet, but she loves chewing on the ears of her Under the Nile holiday doggie.

  • Krysta: January 13, 2017

I wish I had advice, but I don’t! My guy is just 2 months old, so I’m just waiting for the wild world of teething to begin!
