Today, April 22nd, 2016 marks the 46th year of the movement to spread awareness and inspire action in order to change the way in which we interact with this planet we call home.
Since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated in the U.S. and increasingly around the globe-- it's now recognized by over 192 countries! Earth Day is an opportunity to renew our commitment to saving the planet and investing in the future of humanity.Â
Several members of the Under the Nile family decided to take this opportunity to reflect on their daily practices, and how they could make some small changes to live greener lives.Â
Under the Nile owners Mohamed and Janice Masoud took pledges to go paperless and to use only glass bottles.Â
Others took on challenges to decrease their consumption of animal products, save energy, and decrease their water use!
There's a myriad of ways to make your contribution to the movement, and to help make this world a cleaner, healthier place to live. We believe that educating our children about the environment and instilling good habits from a young age is one of the most important things we can do to ensure that the exploitation of our precious earth and its natural resources is replaced with more loving actions. Â
This video by Cool School is a great way to get the conversation going with your little ones.
